Lens for highest demands
The Samyang MF 85mm F1,4 MK2 is a continuation of the popular Samyang MF 85mm F1.4 lens, designed to meet the highest demands of manual photography enthusiasts. The second generation of this lens brings some new features.
NEW: De-Click Function
The De-Click function removes the click stops of the aperture steps. The aperture can then be adjusted steplessly, which allows precise, fine adjustment and is also very useful for filming. Simply turn the silver ring of the lens to "Click" or "Free", just as you need it.
Note: With Nikon cameras the aperture should be adjusted through the camera, because not all camera models allow the manual adjustment of the aperture on the lens.
New diaphragm, new design and weather protection
The aperture used in this 2nd generation lens features 9 rounded blades instead of 6, making it easier to create round highlights in the bokeh. Starbursts, which are created when the aperture is only slightly open and a light source is in focus, now have 18 instead of 12 rays.
The exterior of the lens has also been revised. The operating elements are non-slip and dirt-resistant due to their shape. Now this lens also has a weather sealing around the bayonet, which protects the interior from moisture and raindrops. This does not make it waterproof, but it can be used safely even in rain or snowdrifts.
The lens, weighing only around 540 g, is a lot lighter than many other 85 mm lenses, and with only around 7.5 cm length visibly shorter.
Unique perspectives
With an image angle of 28.3° on full frame and 19.1° on APS-C, this lens allows for incredible portrait shots. It is also suited very well for travel and nature photography. The short telephoto focal length allows the photographer to direct the viewer's gaze to details that are often lost in everyday life. The gentle bokeh, which increases as the aperture is opened, allows subjects to stand out in captivating compositions. Thanks to the close-up limit of 110 cm, almost no room is too small for good photos. With the compact 85mm Samyang portrait lens, you can take unique pictures. Thanks to the extremely good speed of F1.4, great pictures can be taken even in unfavourable lighting conditions, making the lens particularly suitable for object and astrophotography (widefield).
High resolution for excellent optical quality
The outstanding imaging performance is due to the elaborate optical system. This system consists of 7 groups with 9 elements and thus sets new standards. The optical design manages with only 1 aspherical hybrid lens at this focal length, which minimizes the various imaging errors. This and Samyang's own UMC multi-coating produce a crystal clear, crisp image. Especially the excellent distortion correction must be mentioned, as well as the excellent resolution from center to edge. The removable lens hood also prevents the disturbing, lateral incidence of light and the associated lens reflections.
. The filter thread with 72mm diameter allows the use of different filter types, even with mounted lens hood.
Connected to the camera
The electronics built into the lens allow working with exposure or program automatic and simplify focusing. In addition, EXIF data is transmitted.
